Operation Identification

Property recovered by the police cannot be returned unless the rightful owner can be identified. Join Operation Identification, and help our police help you!

  • Maintain an up-to-date record of the serial numbers of all appliances, tools, radio and TV sets, computers and peripherals, firearms, and all other valuables.
  • Keep a detailed and accurate description of all valuables including serial numbers. Whenever possible, inscribe or label your valuables with your New Jersey driver's license number.
  • Report stolen or lost items to the police as soon as possible.

Electric Engravers are available to Municipal residents on a loan agreement. All necessary forms and equipment may be obtained at the Police Headquarters.

Security Alarm Registration

The Bernardsville Police Department responds to hundreds of alarm activations each year. In order to serve you better, we are asking you to voluntarily register your alarm system with the Police Department. This will allow us to more effectively respond to alarms and notify property owners of emergency alarms that may occur. Please open or download the form (see link above), and either fill it out by typing in the spaces provide and print the finished form, or print the form and fill it out by hand.
