Please be advised that we have commenced with our Maintenance Reassessment Program conducted by the Borough of Bernardsville Assessor's Office and authorized by the County of Somerset, State of New Jersey. The purpose of this program is to maintain all properties throughout the Borough at 100% of the market value, which will alleviate the need for traditional revaluation programs. Therefore, market increases or decreases will be reflected in the assessments accordingly. In order to properly conduct such a program, your cooperation is necessary in allowing our Field Inspector to inspect your property. We find inspections are necessary to properly address the condition of your home and verify the property data in our files. This will allow for the assessment of all properties with comparable attributes to be assessed accordingly and dispense with discrepancies in values due to improper or insufficient property data.
Our Field Inspector will only require a brief walk through the interior of your home, which we hope will not inconvenience you. If you are not at home for the initial inspection attempt, please contact this office to set up an appointment at your convenience; however, keep in mind that we only have part-time field inspectors to perform this function throughout the Borough. It should be noted that the inspection process begins at one end of the Borough and then will proceed throughout the remainder of the Borough, our goal being that all homes will be inspected within a three to four year period.
