Deer Management 2019-2020

Deer management will resume for the fourth consecutive year in accordance with Bernardsville Borough Ordinance 2016 – 1710, and a motion by the Borough Council on September 23, 2019. Deer management, with only bow & arrow hunting, will begin after October 8, 2019, and end February 18, 2020 on four Borough-owned properties: Borough Springs/Laurelwood, Charlotte Hill, Peter's Tract and Whitenack. These four Borough-owned properties have been clearly marked to prohibit hunting to anyone else except the Borough approved Warren Blue Ridge Sportsmen’s Club. Each member assigned to the above-mentioned properties have registered with the Bernardsville Police Department. They must call the Police Department before entering and leaving Bernardsville with all necessary information about any hunting activity and display the Bernardsville Police Department registration on the dashboard of their vehicle(s).

Deer management will be allowed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from daybreak, approximately 6:30 am to 9:30 am, and the hunters can be back in the woods from 2:30 pm until sundown depending on weather conditions. The marksman use bows and arrows and are trained to work safely in wooded areas. Walkers are urged to be cautious during these times and control their animals.  There will be no hunting on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The Borough has an approved permit for Little Brook Sanctuary park from Somerset County Parks for Warren Blue Ridge this year, and the same rules as above apply, except when the County has scheduled another event.
