Hometown Heroes Veterans' Banner Program

Bernardsville Borough, in conjunction with the Bernardsville VFW Post 7858 and Downtown Bernardsville, is proud to announce our new banner program “BERNARDSVILLE honors our VETERANS.” You may have seen similar banners displayed in other towns such as Summit, Long Hill, and Westfield. We are seeking to honor Bernardsville Veterans (living and deceased) who live or have lived in Bernardsville.  Former or current Bernardsville residents are eligible to participate if they served in combat with any of the United State Armed Forces including the Coast Guard and Merchant Marines.

The “Bernardsville Honors Our Veterans Committee” will display banners downtown along Route 202 this November in time for Veterans Day.  Banners will also be displayed from mid-May through mid-July for Memorial Day and July 4th. In conjunction with the banner launch, the DowntownBernardsville.com website will have a section featuring a brief story about our Bernardsville veterans.

We are looking for families to sponsor their Veteran by ordering a 2’ x 5’ banner. The fee is $50. Anyone is welcome to sponsor a banner for a Veteran or donate to the program.

An application form will be required along with documentation (DD-214) of service and preferably a high resolution photograph of the Veteran.

Applications will be available online at www.Bernardsvilleboro.org and at the Recreation Office in Borough Hall starting on Wednesday, September 18th, 2019.

In order to be included in the Veterans Day 2019 display, applications must be received no later than October 9th.

Please feel free to contact the Borough Hall at 908-766-2546.
