Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, refers to a group of diseases that cause airflow blockage and breathing-related problems. It includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Although there is no cure for COPD, it can be treated.  In the United States, an estimated 16 million adults have COPD.

Asthma is a disease that affects your lungs. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing. Asthma can be controlled by taking medicine and avoiding the triggers that can cause an attack. It affects 25 million people in the US which is about 8% of the population in 2017 compared to 7.3% of the population in 2001.

An appointment is required. To reserve your appointment, contact the Bernards Township Health Department at 908-204-2520.
