Mayor's Monarch Butterfly Pledge

On Sunday, June 9, 2019 an enthusiastic group gathered to help fulfill the pledge Mayor Mary Jane Canose made for Bernardsville. We received a generous donation of 550 tiny milkweed plants, a favorite of the beautiful monarch butterfly, to plant in select locations, such as the Butterfly Garden at Kiwanis and an area around the Polo grounds. The Mayor's Monarch Pledge is an initiative by the National Wildlife Foundation. All residents are invited to participate. Gardeners on Sunday in group photo, are, left to right: Mary Jane Canose, Rich Dustow, Alice Struble, Robin Dustow, Kathleen Palmer, Jena McCredie, Peter Palmer, and in front, Jessa McCredie, age 6.  Now is the time to plant milkweed and create a habitat for the monarch and other pollinators. For local information on the monarch butterfly, we are fortunate to have the Butterfly Gardener magazine, from the North American Butterfly Association, published in Morristown - https://www.naba.org/pubs/bg.html
