Be Sun Safe: Prevent Skin Cancer @ the Bernardsville Library

Our new program Be Sun Safe: Prevent Skin Cancer will be presented on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bernardsville Library located at 1 Anderson Hill Road in Bernardsville, NJ. Dr. H.C Haliasos, a dermatologist from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Basking Ridge, will present a program about skin cancer including how it develops, its impact and how to prevent it. Skin cancer is diagnosed more frequently in the US than all other cancers combined. It is estimated that the number of new cases of melanoma diagnosed in 2019 will increase by 7.7 %. Furthermore, the number of children, adolescents, and young adults being diagnosed with skin cancer has increased more than 250% over the past four decades. As people, young and old, get more sun exposure, participate in leisure activities and sports outdoors, and live longer, it is important to learn how to prevent this type of cancer. The program is free and open to the public, however, advance sign-up is requested through the Bernardsville Library at https://www.bernardsvillelibrary.org/program/skin/ or by phoning the Bernards Township Health Department at 908-204-2520.
