Volunteer Fair at Bernardsville Public Library

Sixteen volunteer groups were represented at the Volunteer Fair at Bernardsville Public Library on Sunday, April 8. Residents had a chance to talk with knowledgeable experts who provided in-depth, hand-outs and answered questions about their activities in the Community Garden, Environmental Commission, Fire, First Aid and CERT/CART teams, Green Team, Friends for a Greener Bernardsville, the Friends of the Bernardsville Library, Garden Club, Historical Preservation Commission, NJ Audubon Society, Raritan Headwaters Association, Shade Tree Committee, VNA, and St. Bernards Church tutoring. One visitor even purchased a garden plot at the Community Garden for two years.

It was enjoyable and energizing for all of the volunteers to share ideas and compare notes on all their activities. So much so, that there is even talk of this becoming an annual event.

As Mayor Sooy said to the assembled crowd, including peter Palmer, Freeholder, and Bill Youngblood, Borough Council - "In Bernardsville, we are very proud of our volunteers. We recognize that by getting more residents involved in volunteer activities, we will be better able to implement more worthwhileprojects for our town."
